Stress & Anxiety
“Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose has taken over, and you lost sight of your inner purpose. You have forgotten that your state of consciousness is primary, all else secondary.” Eckhart Tolle
Stress and anxiety affect us all in many different ways and can be defined as: The bodies natural reaction to fear and change.
Some of us suffering with stress can easily identify which kind of stress whilst others suffer from a continual sense of anxiety.
Feelings of stress stem from frustration, anger or anxiousness whereas anxiety is the feeling of apprehension or fear and will usually affect our whole being, emotions, behaviour and / or physical health.
Our current socio-economic environment contributes to much of our stress related symptoms and many of us carry stress around in our muscles on a daily basis.
There are several types of stress;
- Acute stress
- Episodic acute stress
- Chronic stress
- Traumatic stress
During periods of stress, anxiety or panic we think that we feel threatened – In reality it is our subconscious minds fight or flight mechanism taking over to protect us from the inevitable.
It is during these situations when we decide whether to run or fight and these same brain-neurotransmitters either excite or calm us.
Hypnosis can help to develop this form of protection further so that stress or anxiety cannot enter into our personal space in the first instance – leaving us with a lasting sense of calm and well being.
The Roper Starch Survey carried out in 1999 found:
- Women who work full-time and have children under 13 report the greatest stress worldwide
- Globally 23% of women executives and professionals and 19% of their male peers say they feel ‘super-stressed’
- Nearly one in four mothers who work full-time and have children under 13 feel stress almost everyday
